He's Good

In my desperation I prayed, and the LORD listened; He saved me from all my troubles.
— PSALM 34:6 (NLT)

God is so good! He’s good to us even when we don’t deserve it. There’s been plenty times trouble arrived at our doorstep and we invited it to have a seat right next to us on the couch. And once we realized trouble was not what we thought, we tried earnestly to get rid of it, only to make trouble dig in more. In a last-ditch effort, we remember that we can go to God about trouble. And you know what? Even in our desperate state, He listens to our prayer and saves us from all trouble. That’s the God we serve. Loving, faithful, forgiving, and so much more. So, I’ll finish the same way I began… God is so good!

Every time

Wonderful Joy Ahead

So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while.
— 1 PETER 1:6 (NLT)

When you’re facing trouble, it may be difficult to think about what God has planned for you tomorrow while today is doing a good job of kicking you in the butt. The good thing about the trouble you’re experiencing is it’s not bigger than your God. Whatever the situation, God built you to endure it through the strength of Christ. In fact, today’s scripture says you can endure “many” trials. That means you can. And you will. It also says that wonderful joy is ahead. This gives you a reason to be truly glad in the middle of your storm because you know that wonderful joy is ahead if you keep walking in faith with Jesus.

Don’t give in

Face God

And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect. So we will not be afraid on the day of judgment, but we can face Him with confidence because we live like Jesus here in this world.
— 1 JOHN 4:17 (NLT)

Love grows. There is no ending to love or capacity for it. It can’t run out, nor was it ever designed to be taken back. And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect. Keyword there is “more.” Meaning there is more to explore, more to learn, and more to extend. This kind of love can only be explored and learned as we live like Jesus here in this world. It’s not impossible for our love to grow more perfect or for us to live like Jesus. Well, it may be impossible to man, but remember, all things are possible with God. And when we believe this, we can face God with confidence and we will hear Him say, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”

Attitude Adjustment

Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit [through factional motives, or strife], but with [an attitude of] humility [being neither arrogant nor self-righteous], regard others as more important than yourselves. Have this same attitude in yourselves which was in Christ Jesus [look to Him as your example in selfless humility].
— PHILIPIANS 2:3, 5 (AMP)

Jesus gives the perfect example in selfless humility. Though He was persecuted by many, Christ never reciprocated the deeds dealt to Him, but rather remained faithful to God’s agenda for His life. Jesus knew His purpose would impact the entire world and any act of selfishness, self-righteousness, or arrogance would dilute His existence and blessing to us. Like Christ, when you regard others as more important than yourself, your attitude will change and so will your actions. Before you react emotionally to events that happen around you or to you directly, align your attitude with Christ and watch God change lives through you.

Every action has a reaction

Do Whatever Is Good

Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good…
— TITUS 3:1 (NIV)

Many people struggle with the idea of today’s leaders. Some people wonder exactly what the tithes and offerings are spent on, while others wonder which political party really cares enough to represent them. It can become stressful trying to figure out who’s doing right or if the intentions of a person are true. Jesus says a tree is known by the fruit that it bears. If you have any doubt concerning leadership or who you should be obedient to, don’t rack your brain or judge out of emotions. Use God’s word as your template. Devote your energy to being obedient and fulfilling the purpose God has for you. That is where God’s blessings await you!

A Godly Love

We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in His love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.
— 1 JOHN 4:16 (NLT)

Do you realize how much God loves you? He loves you so much that He gave His one and only Son, Jesus, as a sacrifice, just so He could have a relationship with you. And this is a love you can trust and rely on that will never change under any circumstance. This godly love lives in you and is meant to be shared. Allow God’s love to change the way you think, react, and love others. The God in you has the capacity to love unconditionally, to forgive, and to rebuild what was once destroyed. So today, put forth a godly effort to love one another as you love yourself.

Is He in you?

You Matter

God the Father knew you and chose you long ago, and his Spirit has made you holy. As a result, you have obeyed Him and have been cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ. May God give you more and more grace and peace.
— 1 PETER 1:2 (NLT)

You matter to God. Let that sink in. It doesn’t matter what they think about you at work. The failures of last year that are behind you. You may even be able to count the number of times you’ve been rejected. It doesn’t matter, because God chose you. And God equipped you by giving you His Holy Spirit. He doesn’t just do that for anyone. You’re His favorite. You were made to survive. You were created to flourish. And God wants you to experience more and more grace and peace. Why? Because you matter to God.

God love you

Ask BIG!

If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.
— MATTHEW 21:22 (NIV)

When you pray, don’t underestimate the God we serve. We’re talking about a God that promised you can move mountains with the faith of a mustard seed! A messiah that can do exceedingly abundantly above all you can ask or think. So, when you pray, go BIG! Don’t just ask God to bless you, but ask Him to bless your children’s children. All you have to do is obey and believe, and whatever you ask for in prayer, you will receive. You’re worthy of God’s gifts and He wants to bless your life today.

Know It All

Then He went down to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them... And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.
— LUKE 2:51-52 (NIV)

Every year Jesus and His family went to Jerusalem to celebrate the Festival of the Passover. Once, when Jesus was 12 years old, He stayed behind in Jerusalem while His family made their way back to Nazareth. When His parents found Him teaching in the synagogue, they told Him to return home with them. Although Jesus was reluctant, He obeyed and did as He was asked.

Here we have Jesus Christ, the Messiah, given a command by His earthly parents. It’s safe to say Jesus knew what He was doing. He knows it all! He’s the Son of God! But He obeyed anyway. Let’s face it, you too may have to obey someone you feel you are smarter than, have better ideas than, have more experience than, or are more educated than. God puts you in these situations to grow you in wisdom and stature. When you remain humble in obedience you will find favor with God and man.

Know when to say when

Ask Yourself

Whoever pursues righteousness and unfailing love will find life, righteousness, and honor.
— PROVERBS 21:21 (NLT)

Are you always tired? Stressed? Depressed? Just not happy? Jesus says in Matthew 7:7, “Knock and the door will be open for you.” What door have you been knocking on? I’d like to suggest that you’re knocking at the wrong door. If you pursue righteousness and unfailing love, you will find life, righteousness, and honor. Why? Because you’ve pursued it. Make a decision to pursue happiness and knock on its door. Pursue peace, prosperity, and all the precious promises Christ has spoken in your life. Leave that negative stuff behind you and ask yourself, “What door am I knocking on?” Because whatever door you knock on, will be open for you.

Knock, knock…

The Gospel

I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. He was buried, and He was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said.
— 1 CORINTHIANS 15:3 – 4 (NLT)

The Apostle Paul wrote 13 books in the New Testament. There are several popular scriptures he penned that we quote to encourage ourselves, remind us of who we are, and even usher us into salvation. But in today’s scripture, he passes on to us the most important words that were passed on to him – The Gospel: the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. For our faith, it starts here. We are gifted a salvation that we cannot earn or give. We can only receive it. And once we have it, we have to pass The Gospel on to others. Don’t keep it to yourself. It’s Good News after all! Share it with the world today. It needs it now more than ever.

Share some Good News

Think of Ways

Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works.
— HEBREWS 10:24 (NLT)

Your words have so much power. You can use them to build up and empower others or they can be used to tear down and destroy them. When you use words to tear down and destroy, the same poison you’ve released into the lives of others affects your life negatively as well. Conversely, using your words to motivate others to acts of love and good works is a win/win. You have to focus your energy positively to speak positively into someone’s life. It changes your mood. It changes your perspective. And it changes the lives of others. If you’re having a real crappy day, think of ways to build up others. It will change your life and make a difference in someone else’s.

Say something kind.

Too Busy Praising

But as for me, I will sing about Your power. Each morning I will sing with joy about Your unfailing love. For You have been my refuge, a place of safety when I am in distress.
— PSALM 59:16 (NLT)

What are you thankful for today? Have you thought about it? Well, think about this… No matter how trying or rough times get, each morning you have something joyful to sing about to the Lord. If you can’t readily think of anything, start with the fact that God woke you up this morning. Start with the fact that Jesus loves you and is your refuge whenever you find yourself in distress. Let trouble worry about trouble and stress take care of itself. You’re too busy praising the Savior right now! Through your praise your situation can change within the blink of an eye. Are you ready to receive it? Well, start thanking Him now and watch God change things.

Not in the Dark

But it was to us that God revealed these things by His Spirit. For His Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets.
— 1 CORINTHIANS 2:10 (NLT)

In 1 Corinthians 2:9, Paul quoted what the prophet Isaiah wrote in the Old Testament (Isaiah 64:4) prior to us receiving Jesus Christ. Before Jesus ascended into heaven and gave us the gift of the Holy Spirit, there were some things eyes hadn’t seen, ears hadn’t heard, or that no mind imagined. But Paul added to Isaiah’s writing by saying that today God has revealed these things by His Spirit – the deep secrets of God. Therefore, today, we are not in the dark. Jesus said we are no longer slaves, but His friends (John 15:15). Jesus has revealed to us everything His Father revealed to Him. He brought us out of the darkness into His marvelous light with purpose. So, the real question isn’t in what we don’t know but instead it’s what will we do with what we do know?

Keep On...

Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.
— MATTHEW 7:7 (NLT)

Did you know that you can never get on God’s nerves? This means you can keep on asking Him for what He’s promised you over, and over again. As a matter of fact, He wants you to keep on seeking Him and to continue to knock on doors of opportunity. It’s not because He’ll forget what you’ve asked for, but it’s to keep what you’ve prayed and asked for on your mind. If you keep asking for God to do what He’s said He would do in His word, then you won’t miss it when He answers you. If you keep seeking, and never give up, He’s promised you’d find what you’re looking for in Him. Knock once. Knock eight times. But He promised the door will be opened to you. You just need to have faith and keep on…

Ask the right question…

Through the Fire

‘Look!’ he answered, ‘I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.’
— DANIEL 3:25 (NKJV)

In this life you will have troubles, but trouble don’t last always. God will not allow you to go through something that He is not able to bring you out of. Whatever He allows you to experience, He is with you, and you will be better because of it. And while God may not always take you out of the fire, He will always go through the fire with you. Then you will realize renewed strength and abundance await you as you exit your fire, and that promotion is on the other side of your situation. So, don’t pray your fiery furnace away, but pray God reveals to you what He wants of you while you go through the fire.

He's in there with you!

Never Abandoned

We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed.
— 2 CORINTHIANS 4:9 (NLT)

You have a big week ahead of you. It may be full of obstacles, difficult people, and there may be confusion at times, but you can face your adversity knowing God will never abandon you. It’s part of the enemy’s plan to try to steal your focus off what Jesus is doing and cause you to think your problems are bigger than God. The enemy wants you to feel hunted when people lie and gossip about you. He wants you to feel knocked down when others look over you or say you’re not good enough. But the devil is a lie! Know that whatever comes your way this week, God will never abandon you or allow you to be destroyed. You can overcome what stands before you and be better because of it.

The enemy tried it!

Just Ask

Don’t bargain with God. Be direct. Ask for what you need.
— MATTHEW 7:7 MSG

Once, I watched as a child began to cry and his father knew he needed to be changed. I watched the same child cry again, his father recognized it to be a different cry. This cry was for food. As the child began to walk toward his father, he stumbled and stretched out his hands. Without hesitation, the father knew exactly what his child needed. He picked his child up.

Our Heavenly Father has what you need in life—you only need to ask. If you want a promotion on your job—ask. If you want to sleep better at night —ask. If you want strength to conquer that obstacle in your life—ask. Jesus says you have not because you ask not. God wants to know that you believe and trust that He will do it. He wants to show up in our lives and show Himself strong. Allow Him to. So go on …ask Him.

Ask and you will receive

Going Through

Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.
— PSALM 23:4 (NLT)

God will not allow you to experience a situation that He’s not able to see you through. Whether it’s not your fault or you’ve made a wrong decision, God doesn’t waste any opportunity for you to grow. And in order to grow, you have to go through some things, but you don't have to get stuck there. Jesus never intended for you to live there. No. He expects you to keep going through until you get on the other side of “through.” God is with you and close by your side, so don’t be afraid as you walk through your darkest valley. He’s there to protect you and comfort you and see you through whatever or wherever you find yourself today.

A Humble Lift

Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up in honor.
— JAMES 4:10 (NLT)

Looking for a boost today? Seeking a long overdue promotion? Scriptures reminds us that promotion doesn’t come from the east or west, but that it comes from the Lord. If we’re in need of a lift at work, in relationships, financially or any aspect of life, remember to remain humble. Look for ways to serve the Lord and obey what He has said in His word. Be intentional. Do something for someone without looking for anything in return. Being humble is not a show of weakness, but actually a show of strength, discipline, and godliness. And when we are humble, we allow God to lift us up in honor and His way.

Look up!
