“Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit [through factional motives, or strife], but with [an attitude of] humility [being neither arrogant nor self-righteous], regard others as more important than yourselves. Have this same attitude in yourselves which was in Christ Jesus [look to Him as your example in selfless humility].”
Jesus gives the perfect example in selfless humility. Though He was persecuted by many, Christ never reciprocated the deeds dealt to Him, but rather remained faithful to God’s agenda for His life. Jesus knew His purpose would impact the entire world and any act of selfishness, self-righteousness, or arrogance would dilute His existence and blessing to us. Like Christ, when you regard others as more important than yourself, your attitude will change and so will your actions. Before you react emotionally to events that happen around you or to you directly, align your attitude with Christ and watch God change lives through you.

Heavenly Father, give me the courage to remain humble in persecution. Strengthen my spirit to align my attitude with Yours and to regard others as more important than myself. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
