“‘However, we don’t want to offend them, so go down to the lake and throw in a line. Open the mouth of the first fish you catch, and you will find a large silver coin. Take it and pay the tax for both of us.’”
In today’s scripture, Jesus told Peter to pay the Temple tax. Sounds people normal, right? Well, until you realize where Jesus told Peter to get the payment from. Jesus instructed Peter to go down to the lake and to open the mouth of the first fish he caught and pay the tax using the silver coin inside the fish’s mouth. Now, that’s just crazy! Scripture doesn’t say what Peter said or even how he looked when Jesus said this, but I can’t help but think Peter gave Christ a double take!

The thing is, we’ve probably missed so many silver coins in the mouths of fishes. Jesus has told us to do some things that we thought was crazy, but He was really strengthening our faith to bless us. You know, like, when Jesus says to bless those that curse us or forgive people seventy times seven times? Yep! That crazy stuff is the kind of stuff that get’s us blessed. So, don’t be afraid to look for your blessing in strange places. It could be another crazy way Jesus is trying to bless you!
