Dig Down Deep

They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built.

Is there a song that you hear that always reminds you of a certain time in your life? For me, anytime I hear “So Many Tears” by 2Pac I think of Rice Krispy Treats and the smell of my first car; my blue Chevy Lumina. It’s automatic! It takes me back to my college days and how life was so much simpler then. Before I know it, I’m smiling, reminiscing about the good ol’ days and I may even text one of my Frat brothers to share in my re-found happiness.

Memories can be deeply stored in our minds much like God’s word is stored in our spirits. When trouble rears its ugly head, we need to be able to dig down deep and grab a word from the Lord to combat the tricks of the enemy. It needs to be automatic! When we have Jesus down deep in our spirit, we don’t have to panic when the flood comes or when life gets shaky. Why? Because we’re automatically reminded of who Christ is and His promises. Before the next time trouble strikes, lay the foundation, dig down deep and fill the spirit with His Spirit.

Heavenly Father, You are my solid rock. My foundation is built on You for I have dug down deep. So when the flood comes I will not be shaken, because my spirit is built well in You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
