Desire and Power

For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him.
— PHILIPPIANS 2:13 (NLT)

When we accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we became new creations. Scripture says the old person passed away and now we are all made new. In our newness, we’ve decided to walk with Christ and walk like Christ. That means some things have to change and we can no longer do some of the things we used to do – no matter how good we were at them. Some of us were good at cussing people out, holding grudges or smacking people, while others of us were good at lying, cheating or other forms of ratchetness. Welp - can’t do those things anymore! We belong to Christ.

You may find some of those things hard to give up, but guess what? You don’t have to change your life for the better all alone. Go to God for strength. God is working in you giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him. So, God not only gives you the desire to change, but also supplies you with the power to stop cussing, lying, cheating, being doubtful, fearful and other things not pleasing to Him. Allow Christ to show Himself strong in you. A new life is within your grasp. Heavenly blessings are waiting for you.
