Are You Available?

Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?’ Then said I, ‘Here am I; send me.’
— ISAIAH 6:8 (KJV)

In the book of Isaiah, chapter 6, the prophet captures and shares a very intimate moment he had with God. He tells us in the first few verses how he saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up. He witnessed the Seraphims, whose sole purpose is to praise God, glorifying the Lord. Immersed in this worship, he didn’t take a selfie, but instead looked at himself and realized his imperfections. He confessed his sin. The Seraphims purged his sin and then, only then, was Isaiah able to hear God’s voice. The Lord asked, “Who shall I send and who will go for us?”

You know from today’s scripture how Isaiah responded to the Lord’s question, but today, I want to ask you a question my friend: “Are you available to God?” Don’t rush to answer. Really ponder it. Isaiah had no idea the assignment God was giving to him, but He made himself available. “Here am I,” he said. “Send me.” For the next few minutes, remove anything preventing you from hearing the Lord’s voice and ask Him, “What do you want me to do today, Lord?” and make yourself available for whatever and however He answers. If He doesn’t answer right away, be patient, but most of all, be available.

Use me, Lord
