Sincere Love

Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.
— ROMANS 12:9 (NIV)

George Washington Carver once said, “Fear of something is at the root of hate for others and hate within will eventually destroy the hater.” Dwight D. Eisenhower said, “This world of ours… must avoid becoming a community of dreadful fear and hate, and be, instead, a proud nation of mutual trust and respect.” Evil is ever present around us. It rears its ugly head to cause fear, hate and division. Its stifling influence can make the strongest believer doubtful and discouraged, but in these times, we must remember we have been equipped to victoriously overpower evil.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said, “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” You have the tool of sincere love that can overcome evil’s agenda. How do I know this? Because you have experienced the love of God. And once you have experienced the sincere love of Christ, you can reciprocate it, cultivate it and motivate others to join you. Be sure to hate evil, not people. Cling to what is good and continue to do good deeds in the face of hate and evil. Love is stronger than hate. Good is stronger than evil. But you have to exhibit this among all people by being the light of the world God created you to be.

Heavenly Father, thank You for showing me what sincere love is. I will hate evil and speak out against it. I choose to cling to what is good and be the light of the world to drive out hatred. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
