What did God say?

‘They are prophesying lies to you in my name. I have not sent them,’ declares the Lord.
— JEREMIAH 29:9 (NIV)

People all over are discussing the Shelter-At-Home ban executed by their local governments. Who should be considered an “essential employee” and what businesses should remain open or closed during this time are hot topics. The Governor of Michigan has recently increased the list of those deemed as essential businesses and services that can return to work. Some states are reinstating beauty salons, barbershops and bowling alleys. So, the overall discussion comes back to one general point: What’s safe?

James 1:5 says, “If anyone lacks wisdom, let them ask.” God will never steer you in the wrong direction. He will not tell you to experiment with injecting disinfectant into your body. Jesus will not tell you to figure out how to get sun inside of your body. The only “Son” you need inside you, is the Son of God – Jesus – and He not only blessed you with His wisdom, but common sense. That common sense will drive you to ask, “What did God say?” when people give you information that doesn’t sound right, that are misguided or straight up lies. And if that’s the case, know that God did not send them. Who God sends, will sound like God and God sounds like His Word. So if you ever have doubt, ask yourself, “What did God say?”
