Keep Calling

Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, ‘Son of David, have mercy on me!’ Jesus stopped and said, ‘Call him.’
— MARK 10:48 – 49a (NIV)

What do you do when you’ve prayed to God and nothing seems to change? You fall on your knees every day, pleading with Jesus to intercede on your behalf, but nothing immediately happens. You’ve asked the Prayer Warriors at church to pray for you, you’ve repented, fasted and done the scriptures your pastor recommended to you. Still, nothing. What do you do now? I’m glad you asked. What you should do is keep calling until Jesus calls you back.

When your situation tries to overpower you, keep calling Jesus. When you almost feel like giving up, keep calling Jesus. When people tell you it’ll never work, keep calling Jesus. When your faith is being tested, keep calling – even louder – “Son of David, have mercy on me!” Don’t give up calling Jesus, because He won’t give up on you. Christ is nearby. And it’s not that He doesn’t hear you. He’s already working things out for you. Keep calling on Jesus so your focus will not shift. Keep calling on Jesus because there’s power in the name. Keep calling on Jesus so that when you are delivered, you will know that it wasn’t you, but Jesus, that brought you through.

He’s always listening
