You Don't Have to Fight

You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you, Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the Lord will be with you.
— 2 CHRONICLES 20:17 (NIV)

I’m the youngest of three sons. One of the burdens of having a younger brother is your mom makes your big brothers take you wherever they go. To their friend’s house, to the mall – wherever - I was tagging along. When they played basketball, I was there too. I learned how to play with the “big boys.” At times, the game would get a little “physical” when pushing and words would be exchanged. But because my big brothers were nearby, I didn’t have to fight. They, along with their friends, would shove me away from the scuffle and make sure no harm came to me. Once the opposition found out who I was with, the threat disappeared, and I continued to play basketball.

I’m sure you face battles every day, but you weren’t meant to fight them. Some battles you just have to show up to by taking your position in Christ, standing firm in your faith and watch the Lord deliver you. You don’t have to fight. Your Big Brother, Jesus, and His host of angels are always with you. Your opposition just needs to see Who you’re with. Once the threat recognizes you as a child of God, it will be forced to disappear. So, don’t worry about facing tomorrow. Don’t be afraid. Don’t be discouraged. The Lord is with you. Your light. Your refuge. Your salvation. Your strength. But… not your battle.
