Submit

Submit to God and be at peace with Him; in this way prosperity will come to you. Accept instruction from His mouth and lay up His words in your heart.
— JOB 22:21 – 22 (NIV)

The word “submit” gets a bad rap. Sometimes people see it as a sign of weakness. Some brides even ask that it be removed during the exchange of vows during their wedding. Because of this misunderstanding, along with many other reasons, submission is difficult for a lot of people. To submit means to accept or yield to a superior force or authority. It also means to be subject to a particular process. It doesn’t mean you’re weak or inferior, but that you have made a decision to be led and to follow. And you know what? It takes a strong person to make that sort of decision.

As a believer, you must submit to God. You can call Him “Lord” and not actually submit to His way. Let’s do a self-inventory: Are you struggling in your relationships? Does trouble always seem to follow you? Do you find it difficult to achieve peace in various areas of your life? If you answered “Yes” to any of these questions, chances are you haven’t fully submitted to God and His process. When you submit to God and are at peace with what He’s instructing you, then He will make your way prosperous. No one else can promise that or do that but the Lord. You won’t lack in your relationships, job, health, money or any other area in your life. Submit to Jesus and accept His instruction and your life will change for the better. Why? Because His word does not come back void.
