Don't Miss the But

I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.
— JOHN 16:33 (NLT)

Jesus wants each of us to succeed in life. The mystery of faith is no longer a secret, because Christ calls us friend and has shared everything with us that the Father shared with Him. And while life sometimes catches us off guard, God is never caught by surprise!  All throughout scripture, Jesus shows His love for us by warning us of things to come so that we can strengthen our hearts and understand that it’s all part of His divine plan for us. So, when Christ prepares us for some non-happy times ahead, read His Word all the way through and don’t miss the “but.”

Jesus warned you that you will have many trials and sorrow, BUT take heart, because He has overcome the world. God warned you that weeping may endure for a night, BUT joy comes in the morning. He warned you that the enemy has asked for you, to sift you as wheat, BUT Jesus prayed for you and God always answers His prayers. If you miss the but, you miss your blessing and what’s God has for you on the other side of your storm. So, when you’re experiencing trials and sorrow, don’t miss the but. Jesus has a blessing on the other side of that comma that’s exceedingly abundantly above all you can ask or think!

Heavenly Father, thank You for all Your warnings so that I may have peace in You. Here on earth I will have many trials and sorrows, but I have strengthened my heart, because You have overcome the world. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
