Yesterday, I was getting ready to head out for my bowling league. I was all set to leave when I checked my pant pocket for my car keys. They weren’t there. I looked on my desk in the normal spot I kept them, and they weren’t there. I looked a few more places before checking the pocket of the coat I was wearing, and guess what? They were in there. And do you know what I did once I found what I thought I didn’t have? I stopped looking.

When you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you received the gift of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit gives life and the words Jesus has spoken to you are full of the Spirit and life (John 6:63). The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control and guess what? You don’t have to look for those things anywhere or in anything else because with the Spirit, you already have it! You don’t have to keep looking in all the wrong places and people. All you need to do is study God’s Word and learn how to activate them within your spirit. Love? You have it. Joy? You have it. Peace? Self-control? You have it. Everything you’ve ever needed is in the Spirit that has been freely given to you.
