Power and Wealth

And you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.
— Deuteronomy 8:18 (NKJV)

One of the worst things we can do as believers is forget who God is and everything He’s done. We can get caught up in the idea that what we is because of the hard work and dedication we’ve committed to. We reflect on the sacrifices we made in college or the dedication on the job for twenty plus years and give ourselves a pat on the back for a job well done. Needed a new car? We have good credit. Got sick from the weather changing? Our insurance covers that. Life can become maintenance free and we can slip into an “I did it myself” mindset.

In everything you do and everything you are, remember that God did it for you. He is the one who gives you power to get wealth. Without God’s power you would not have the strength and endurance to work hard or be productive. Without God sustaining you and protecting you, you would not have been able to survive those crazy collegiate days or work seven days a week at the factory. With God’s power, He has enabled you to get wealth that He may establish His covenant with you. Whatever God has given you the power to gain belongs to Him and the only way you could have obtained what you have is by Him. So, remember, in everything, to give God the praise and glory, for without Him you and me would be nothing.

Thank You, Lord

Heavenly Father, without You I am nothing. Thank You for giving me the power to get wealth and establishing Your covenant with me. Everything I am and have is because of You. I give You all the praise and glory. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
