Don't Fall For It

But Jesus, knowing their evil intent, said, ‘You hypocrites, why are you trying to trap me?’
— MATTHEW 22:18 (NIV)

Isn’t it weird when you were doing wrong and not trying to make a difference in the world, or even just do better in your own life, no one had anything to say? It seemed like very few people cared what you did, or who you did it to, when you weren’t trying to live your best life. They laughed when you’d get drunk and act a complete fool and applauded when you used to curse people out that looked at you the wrong way. But now that you’re trying to live a life pleasing to God and better yourself, you find more and more critics lining up and praying for your downfall.

Satan wants you to pay attention to your critics. He wants to distract you from living the life Jesus promised you. The devil wants to throw you off task, but don’t fall for it. It’s a trap! When the enemy comes against you, it’s time to celebrate. Why? Because for Satan to come against you, that means you must be doing something right. For the devil to try and distract you, you must be close to the breakthrough God promised you. When the naysayers and hypocrites approach you with their evil intent, remember your fight isn’t against flesh and blood. Don’t fall for the trap. Recall who Jesus says you are and press toward the goal of Christ.

Heavenly Father, I know the enemy has prepared a trap for me, but You are in control and will deliver my from the hand of my enemy. I will not fall for the trap and stay on your path. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
