Free Refills

It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
— LAMENTATIONS 3:22 – 23 (NIV)

As you know, I’m a movie-goer. As a family, we purchase souvenir buckets for popcorn that allows you to get as many refills as you want for six months at a time. So, I guess the refills aren’t free, but we make sure we get our money’s worth! Wouldn’t it be awesome if free refills applied to everything? Can you imagine filling up your car with gas, then going back next week for a free refill? What about shopping for a week’s worth of groceries and on your next shopping trip you bypass the cash registers with a cart full for this week? Life would definitely be easier and less stressful.

Well, I can’t get you free refills on gas or groceries – maybe popcorn if you time it just right – but I can tell you how to get free refills on something a lot more important. Mercy. It’s because of the Lord’s mercies that you are not consumed by everything going on around you and because His compassion never fails. You get a free refill of God’s mercies every morning. And unlike gas, groceries and, yes, popcorn, God’s mercy will make life easier and less stressful. Incredibly hard day at work. Mercy. Did something you shouldn’t have. Mercy. Made it safely home last night. Mercy. Checked a goal of your list of accomplishments. Mercy. Didn’t quite get life right today, but ready to try again tomorrow. Mercy. Great is God’s faithfulness and He grants you free refills on mercy every morning. Today, focus on His mercy toward you and all the many blessings that comes along with it.

Everlasting blessings
