Can't Get Right

His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness.
— 2 PETER 1:3 (NIV)

When I stop smoking, I’ll start going back to church. When I get my new job, I’ll start tithing and giving more. When I get my drinking under control, everything will fall back into place. For the new year, I’ll start over and get my life back on track. If you could do it on your own, I would hope you would have by now. There’s a reason you haven’t been successful in various areas of your life. You’re trying to fix you yourself when you can’t. You need help.

Acknowledging you need help is not a show of weakness. It’s a show of faith. You’re telling God that you can’t do this without Him. You’re telling God that you’re relying on His strength. You want to stop being impatient with people, you want to extend compassion to others, you want to stop smoking, eating unhealthy, sexual immorality, being racist or prejudice, passing judgment or whatever change you’re in need of over your life, the answer is Jesus. His divine power has given you everything you need for a godly life through your knowledge of Him who called you by His own glory and goodness. You can’t get right on your own. You need the righteousness of Christ.

Take His yoke
