Love Unconditonally

‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.’
— MARK 12:30 – 31 (NIV)

How does the mother of a slain child forgive their murderer? How does a father love their child after choosing to live an alternative life? How does a person continue to support their sibling through life after falling victim to drug abuse over and over again? How does a friend tell a friend “I forgive you” while the knife wound is still fresh in their back? Two words: Unconditional Love.

This love is only in your possession when you Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. Then, and only then, will you be able to love unconditionally. Why? Because it is the way Christ loves you. And when you open your heart to love God, you are able to open your heart to love your neighbor as yourself. You are able to love unconditionally when others make mistakes that hurt you. You are able to love the person and not what they look like. You are able, and willing, to love them while they are going through life, and see them through to the other side where God intended them to be. I’m not preaching tolerance. I’m not teaching understanding. I’m only talking about love. Unconditionally.

He first loved you

Heavenly Father, I love You with all my heart and with all my soul and with all my mind and with all my strength. I will love unconditionally as You have loved me. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
