For it is better, if it is God’s will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.
— 1 PETER 3:17 (NIV)

The things we work to obtain won’t always come easy. Maintaining healthy relationships can be hard work. Studying for your degree or completing your dissertation can prove to be stressful. Juggling home life, work life and church life can be a task as well. Staying the course and on the path God has for you will yield nothing but success, but along the way, if it is God’s will, you may have to suffer. You may experience some discomfort, some sleepless night, but never forget that joy comes in the morning!

You may not be seeking a degree. Your marriage, relationship with friends and family may all be well and fine, but what about the every day good that comes with living a godly life? You may experience persecution and suffering while doing good by your neighbor. You may feel slighted because you’re considered a “Goodie Two-Shoe” at work for not partaking in the gossip and backbiting. If this happens to you, relax! You’re in great company. Jesus suffered for doing good by His Father too. Continue doing what’s good in the eye of your Heavenly Father. Continue knowing your blessing is on the other side of your obstacle. Continue in the understanding that it is better, if it is God’s will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil. Keep going.

Heavenly Father, I will continue to do good and if it is Your will that I suffer, I will do it prayerfully, knowing You will deliver me better and brand new. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
