Be A Servant Of All

You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.
— GALATIANS 5:13 (NIV)

I have had the opportunity to belong, take part with or collaborate with several community and national organizations. I guess it was put in me at a young age while attending church to be a part of groups that served others. I was a member of the usher board, the youth choir, our youth ministry and so on. I was one of those kids at church every day for something! I used to think, “When I get out on my own and free, I ain’t doing all this anymore! I’m going to do what I want to do!”

Those that know me know that those thoughts didn’t last long. Throughout my collegiate career until now, I have continued to be a servant of all by participating in ministry, collaborating with many community-based groups and am a member of the world’s greatest fraternity. Today, you and I are free because of Christ, but God does not want you to use your freedom to indulge in your own flesh. God wants you to be a servant of all. Be a part of a group that serves others humbly in love. Leave the world a better place. Change the lives of others by bringing heaven to earth.  Make sure whatever ministry, community or social group you belong to allows you to be a servant of all.

Make it a better place

Heavenly Father, I am free, but I will not use my freedom to indulge the flesh. I will be a servant of all and humbly serve others in love. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
