We protect ourselves daily in our attempts to prevent experiencing bodily harm. If we are going into an oven, we use an oven mitt to protect our hands from getting burned. It’s cold outside, we were heavy coats, hats, scarfs, gloves and maybe even Long John’s! If it’s raining, an umbrella. If we’re bike riding, a helmet. Depending the activity, we take care and extra measures to make sure the heat, cold, rain, unforeseen injury or whatever is potentially out there, can’t get to us.

We do a pretty good job protecting our outer parts, but Jesus does an excellent job protecting our inner parts. When we understand that Christ is covering us, we can respond to what’s out there knowing it can’t get to us. We are in the hand of Jesus and no one or no thing can snatch us from it. On top of being in the hand of Christ, we are also in God’s hand and then sealed with the Holy Spirit. That’s triple protection! So, the only way anything or anyone can get to us is if we let it. Drug abuse can’t get to us. Sexual immortality can’t get to us. Debt can’t get to us. Bad health can’t get to us. Gossip can’t get to us. Fear can’t get to us. Hurt can’t get to us. Wickedness can’t get to us. Unless…. We let them.
