Watch For Change

Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
— ISAIAH 43:19 (KJV)

Our local gym closed a couple days to add new equipment. Upon returning, we found updated equipment, but things were moved around differently as well. The free weights area, that we constantly jockeyed for space, was now even more cluttered with new equipment among other things we didn’t like. One of the other regulars joined us by saying, “I don’t like this new change” and “it was better the other way.” We agreed as we continued our workout. By the end of our session, we talked about how nice the new equipment was and how much better the features were we’d discovered after using them. Turns out, the change was better. We just had to get past our discomfort first.

Change in your life can be uncomfortable – especially when it’s thrusted upon you.  Breaking from routine can be tough and miserable, but how you interpret the change can determine the outcome of your experience. First, know God will never give you more than you can bear. Secondly, when God wants to do something in your life, watch for change. He will break your normal routine and make you temporarily uncomfortable to get you what you need or take you where you need to be. Thirdly, stop giving the devil credit for what the Lord is doing. If you lost your job, God wants you to have a better one. Change. If your friends turned their backs on you, Christ has better ones ahead for you. Change. If one organization says no, Jesus has seven others you’ve never heard of waiting to say yes. Change. God wants to do a new thing in your life. Will you know it?

Change is good

Heavenly Father, I will watch for change and the new thing You want to do in my life. My routine or things that make me comfortable will not distract me. Strengthen me, Lord, to be able to accept my change. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
