Confident Approach

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of Him.
— 1 JOHN 5:14 – 15 (NIV)

My kids think they know me. They think if they bat their eyes, soften their voices, and hug on me while asking me for something they want that that will better their chances of getting it. On the contrary, I have no problem saying, “Nope!” I noticed too the change in their mannerism when they are asking me for certain things. If they are asking me about a friend spending the night over the weekend, they are a little more timid in their approach, because they don’t know what I will say. But, when they are asking me for something they need for school, their approach is way more confident. It goes from, “Daddy, can my friends come over, pretty please?” to “Daddy, I need a special binder for my new class, please.”

When you go to your Heavenly Father in prayer, have confidence when you approach Him that whatever you ask, in His will, He not only hears you, but that you will have it. As a child of God, you can approach His throne boldly. If it is in His word and will, it’s already yours! Don’t be a timid believer. Don’t approach God faithlessly. Have confidence in the God you serve. Ask. Believe. Receive. If your earthly parents gave to you out of their love, imagine how much more your father in heaven will reward you. Whatever you need, whatever you lack, go to God today knowing He will hear you and bless you exceedingly abundantly above all that you can ask or think.

In His will
