Get Back On It!

Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.
— LUKE 18:1 (NIV)

I have to confess… I’ve been slacking, people. I haven’t been keeping up with my morning exercise routine. I recently started back and I knew I had to get back on it because I started feeling really sluggish and lack of energy I had when working out regularly. I noticed my lower back started hurting again from carrying around the extra load in the front. My sleep (and consequently my wife’s sleep) became interrupted from my increasingly loud snoring and tossing and turning. So, we decided to get back on it first thing Monday and have already noticed a change for the better.

Just as important as it is to keep your physical body in shape, it’s also important to keep your spirit in shape by communing with God daily. When you slack on your prayer life, your spirit can become sluggish. Without conversing with Jesus, you lose energy and direction in fulfilling your purpose. You may start to experience pain in life from carrying around the extra load you would normally given over to Christ through prayer. Your daily routines can become interrupted by stress and drama during the times you would have normally devoted to meditation and prayer. If you’re spiritually out of shape, it’s never too late to get back on it! God’s waiting to hear from you and has a lot to tell you. Pray today and make the effort to not give up. You’ll notice a change for the better!

Heavenly Father, I apologize for not communing with You as much as I should. I miss our talks and choose today to get back on it. I will pray to You every day and not give up! In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
