The New Is Here

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
— 2 CORINTHIANS 5:17 (NIV)

Oprah Winfrey once said, “I know for sure that what we dwell on is who we become.” Her statement can be true two ways in our lives. If you dwell on the negativity in your life, you are sure to become consumed by it. You will only see the bad in situations. You will attract negative people. When you try to escape the negativity in your life by moving to another city or starting a new career, your efforts are futile because the negativity has not only overtaken your environment, but have overtaken your spirit, your mind, your heart and your being. You can’t escape you. “You” goes wherever you go!

Hug yourself and embrace the new you!

Likewise, if you dwell on the positivity in your life, that too will consume you. Sure, you’ve endured some bad things yesterday and chances are you will have to tomorrow, but every day that you are blessed to wake up in Christ, you’re a new creation. That means through God’s mercies, which are renewed every day, the old has gone and the new is here!  You don’t have to dwell on what happened last night, last month or last year. That’s gone! And what can you do about what’s in the past anyway, right? Stop letting that control you. Choose to dwell on what’s good about your life in Christ. Choose to dwell on how much He’s done and brought you through. Embrace the new creation you have become today and realize your new is here.
