Servant of All

Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, ‘Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.’
— MARK 9:35 (NKJV)

People use many tactics in their attempt to get ahead in life. Some do extra on the job for notoriety while others play both sides of the coin to win the praises of others. Some backbite, slander and spread rumors to deface the integrity of their colleagues while others say “Yes” to any and everything no matter the cost. The world will even have you believe that to be meek and humble are characteristics of weakness and that nice guys finish last, but always remember to fall back on God’s word whenever popular opinion is slated as fact.

You’ll find that worldly tactics used to advance in life often directly conflict with God’s word. In fact, when you, as a believer, try to advance by stepping on the backs of others or use some other ungodly strategy, you run smack into failure. It’s because God didn’t design His promotion this way. God’s people are most happiest when they are serving others. They don’t care who sees them or knows they did it. They care about being servants of all. They care about meeting the needs of others because they know all their needs are already fulfilled in Jesus. If you want promotion. Serve others. If you want advancement. Serve others. If you want to be blessed. Serve others. For anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.

Heavenly Father, I will seek ways to be a servant of all. I will consider others before myself and bless those who are in need. Thank You for promoting me and the blessings of advancement over my life. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
