Same Son

You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.
— MATTHEW 5:43 - 45 (NIV)

It’s difficult to deal with people you don’t like. If you’re honest with yourself, there are some people in your life that you’d be fine with not seeing them for the rest of the year – or longer! You know exactly who I’m talking about. The kind of people that only add stress and strain to your life. The kind people who don’t feel they’ve accomplished their mission until they have made you totally miserable and ruined everyone’s day. Yep. Them!

Well, “them” exist for a reason. Them are here to push you closer to Him: Christ. It’s easy to love people who are kind, thoughtful and loving toward you, but there are blessings in your loving your enemy and praying for them that persecute you. See, Jesus loves you, but Jesus also loves “them” too. He causes the same sun that rises on you to rise on them. He sends the same rain that blesses you to bless them. So, if the same Son of God that loves you can love them, perhaps you ought to love them too. And maybe it’s just what them need to help them from being them. Open your heart today and give it a try. After all, God does work in mysterious ways : )

Them are not your enemy

Heavenly Father, I will love my enemy and pray for them who persecute me because I am Your child. The same Son that loves me, loves them too and so do I. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
