He Did It On Purpose

But the LORD said to Samuel, ‘Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.’
— 1 Samuel 16:7 (NIV)

When you look into the mirror, what do you see? Do you see the masterpiece that God formed with His powerful hands, or do you see what doesn’t fit in with the crowd? Do you appreciate the package Jesus chose for His spirit to live in, or does the magazine cover in the grocery store tell you to depreciate it? If you do the latter, don’t worry, you’re not alone. It’s natural for us to want to improve how we look on the outside, but God is more concerned about your heart.

When God created you, He created you on purpose with a purpose. There was no mistake. He made you unique. Jesus doesn’t want you to fit in with the crowd and He doesn’t want you to look like everyone else. He wants you to look like Him. You may not be the same size you were in high school. Your hair may be thinner than it was last year. So what! The reason God created you hasn’t changed. Be proud of who you are on the inside and people will notice that on the outside.

I am His workmanship

Lord, thank You for creating me in Your image. I know you do not look at my outward appearance, but the heart of flesh that You have put in me. Please abide in my heart Lord. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
