Take It Away! (Nope!)

Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
— 2 CORINTHIANS 12:8 – 9 (NIV)

Ever wonder why everything has to be so hard? No matter how much you try to get ahead, it’s never quite enough? Pay one bill, two more pop up. Foot stops aching, but now your back is killing you. You just got over your illness, but now a family member is sick. Just paid your car off, but now it’s making a noise you’ve never heard before. Makes you want to say, “Why me, Lord! Take it away” only to hear the voice of Christ quietly whisper, “Nope!”

In your time of weakness, Christ wants to make you strong. You can ask Jesus, “Why me?” but He’s probably saying, “Why not you?” He’s grace is sufficient in your time of calamity. His power is made perfect! He doesn’t want you to stress trying to fix things yourself, but to boast all the more gladly about your weaknesses so that His power may rest on you. Seek His face. Stop trying to do it on your own. You can’t. GOD can.
