Clap Your Hands

Clap your hands, all you nations; shout to God with cries of joy. For the LORD Most High is awesome, the great King over all the earth.
— PSALM 47:1 – 2 (NIV)

How many items do you have on your list of complaints today? Are you tired of the people on your job? Is your life filled with unnecessary drama? Is it too hot outside? I’m sure if you stopped to think half a minute you could probably compile a lengthy list of complaints to count on both hands. But what would happen if you used those same hands to clap and shout praises to God over those circumstances?

You know what would happen? Your focus would shift. Your attention would switch from crying over complaints to cries of joy. You’d remember that your complaints are little compared to what your awesome God can do. You’d start speaking to your circumstances with the authority the great King over all the earth has given you. No one said life would be easy, but no one said you had to accept the darkness of hard times either. Clap your hands in the face of adversity. Clap your hands when no one else understands where you’ve found joy. Clap your hands when you can’t see a way out, but know Jesus is still your Way Maker. Spend time shouting to God with joy for what He has done, is doing and will do. Claim it today! And if you agree… Clap your hands!

Joy, joy, joy down in my heart

Heavenly Father, I’m done focusing on my complaints. I’m shifting toward You. I will clap my hands and shout with cries of joy to You. You are awesome and the great King over all the earth. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
