The Five Heartbeats is one of my favorite movies. Recently, a documentary was released about the making of the movie. The director and writer, Robert Townsend, mentioned he and his friend wrote the script for The Five Heartbeats back in 1980, but it wasn’t picked up until 1990. Even then, the movie flopped in theatres due to poor publicity. It was only after the movie was released to VHS it gained notoriety and became the beloved classic hit it is today.

Robert Townsend used an old saying to capture this moment. He said, “If you want to make GOD laugh, tell Him your plans.” That quote stood out to me and I want to tell you today not to lose faith or hope. No matter how old you are, how long it’s taking, or what isn’t going as planned, GOD can still do it for you. You may never understand GOD’s plan. You will never understand His timing. All you have to understand is that He can still do it for you. Make sure your plan lines up with His plan, but remember, GOD sees a bigger picture than you. His thoughts are not your thoughts, but His thoughts are always of you.
