Waste of Power

Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD.
— LEVITICUS 19:18 (NIV)

Each day, our minds have the potential to absorb many ungodly activities that are seen as normal. Our favorite movies or T.V. shows are when the good guy seeks revenge and eventually overpowers the bad guy. The current president is lauded and applauded for speaking negatively against other national leaders. We coin and agree with phrases like, “That’s what he gets!” or “She deserved that” and the power of compassion and forgiveness dwindles away.

When it comes to revenge or holding grudges, believers must remember GOD commands us to love each other as we love ourselves. Sure, witnessing Killmonger seek revenge against The Black Panther is entertaining, but remember it’s just that - entertainment. GOD has entrusted us with His strength and wisdom. Using it on revenge or holding grudges against anyone is a waste of power. Power is in love. Power is in unity. Peace. Forgiveness. Revenge and grudges have never done anything except steal, kill and destroy. Sound familiar?
