Who Persuades You?

You were running a good race. Who cut in on you to keep you from obeying the truth? That kind of persuasion does not come from the one who calls you.
— GALATIANS 5:7,8 (NIV)

Sometimes it’s hard for us to identify the root cause of our problems. It’s easy to place blame on someone or something else for our mistakes or shortfalls, but in the end, does that fix the problem? During one of my counseling sessions, my therapist revealed to me that we all have “strands” that connect us to things that happened in our past that can affect us today. It could be things that were said to us as children, things witnessed in high school - traumatic or insignificant – that influence our being today.

Your day is going great. You’re in good health. Family doing well. Things on the job going perfect. Then a little voice creeps in and says, “You can’t do it.” “You don’t deserve good things.” “You’re too fat.” “You’re too thin.” “Nobody loves you.” “You’re not good enough!” You were running a good race then Satan tries to persuade you with one of his tricks. Don’t allow him to cut in on you and keep you from obeying the truth. That kind of persuasion does not come from the One who called you. GOD called you to be great! GOD called you His chosen people. He said you can do all things. He loves you! Allow GOD’s truths to persuade you, not the devil’s tricks. You aren’t what they said, but you are what GOD says.

Mental health is serious, don’t take it for granted. You don’t have to be crazy to speak with a counselor, therapist or mental health professional, but in most cases, you’d be crazy not to!  For more mental health information, check out this site http://www.mentalhealthamerica.net/

Heavenly Father, I realize that the truth only comes from You. I will no longer allow Satan to cut in on me and keep me from obeying the truth or running my good race. You called me. Only You can persuade me. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
