Unwanted Tenant

Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.
— ROMANS 7:20 (NIV)

It’s really hard breaking old habits. I had a thing when I was younger that I wouldn’t allow anyone to get away with doing me wrong. If you cursed me out, I’d have to prove you were an amateur. If you raised a hand to me, I made sure that was the last time you did. Again… that was back in the day. Nowadays, I realize my purpose isn’t to fight every battle. Today, I try not to retaliate with using undesirable words or violence… I said, “I try!” Because every now and then, that old me shows up and wants to show out!

Heavenly Father, sin has no place in me. I will no longer do the things that I want to do, but only those things pleasing to You. Give me the strength, Lord, to resist my sinful nature. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
