Walk By The Spirit

So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
— GALATIANS 5:16 (NIV)

The bible has a way of answering life’s questions and setting our fleshly ideas straight. God says in His Word that He gives us pastors after His own heart who will feed (lead) us with knowledge and understanding. I firmly believe each believer needs to be under a pastor to expound and breakdown scripture plain enough for them to be able to apply to their lives, but there are some scriptures we don’t need to be broken down and we have no excuse but to do them – like today’s scripture…

Today’s scripture speaks about walking by the Spirit of Christ and not giving into the desires of your flesh. The Apostle Paul doesn’t say, “I think it’s a good idea that you walk by the Spirit…” He doesn’t even say, “After being saved for about five years, you can start walking by the Spirit...” Nope! Paul says, “So I say, walk by the Spirit…” That means, that at the time you read Galatians 5:16, you have everything you need to do it. You have the ability to rise above those who mean to do you wrong, just as Christ did. You have the capability to refrain from promptly cursing someone out and praying for them instead. When you walk by the Spirit, you will not gratify the desires of your flesh. Yeah. It’s going to take some practice, but you can do it. After all… it’s a choice…

Yes, you can.

Heavenly Father, I make the choice today to walk by Your Spirit and not gratify the desires of my flesh. You said that I can do all things, because You strengthen me. I call on Your strength today. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
