Ever hear the saying, “Everything that glitters ain’t gold?” The saying is conveying the message that everything that appears good may not actually be good. A job may pay well, but leave you miserable with life. Shiny sports cars are nice, but not so nice if they’re detrimental to the budget. These are practical examples, but what about when it comes to spiritual concerns? Who can we listen to? Who can we trust?

When it comes to spiritual concerns, be it teaching, preaching, or anything else, and you feel what you’re hearing is too good to be true, get proof! Be sure any and everything you’re being taught can be found somewhere between Genesis and Revelation. Now, there are some contributors and biblical scholars that will break down spiritual truths for you to understand and be able to apply them in life, but the foundation of these spiritual truths should be easily traced back to God’s Word. Need more proof? Jesus says a tree is known by its fruit. False teachings will yield fruit that does not last, while teachings that are of God will bless you and others, and cost you nothing but your obedience to God and sacrifice. Do not believe every spirit, but test the spirit to see whether or not it is from God.
