Children of the Light

For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord.
— EPHESIANS 5:8 – 10 (NIV)

When I look back over my life, I have to thank GOD for everything He’s protected me from. I’m no career criminal, but there are people who have died for less things I’ve done or have been witness to. There were things about me that I knew were not right, but I still did them, I still embraced them, it became a lifestyle, but as I continue to grow closer to GOD, surround myself with the right people, and listen to godly people, I realize the need to get rid of those things about me that aren’t of Christ. And I’ve been given that chance. To do better. To be better. Christ died for me while I was yet a sinner and living in darkness, but because of Him, I am now a child of the light.

My brothers and sisters, we are all children of the light and it’s time we started walking in it. We have to die to our sins so we can bare the fruit of the light, which consists of goodness, righteousness and truth. Instead of living in the darkness, pleasing ourselves, let’s strive to do what pleases the Lord. “What pleases the Lord? I don’t know where to start?” Let’s start with changing ourselves. Let’s start with just getting rid of one thing that isn’t consistent with GOD. Lying. Stealing. Swearing. Hating. Jealousy. Sexual immortality. Procrastination. Gossiping. Just start with one. Leave the darkness and start living as children of the light.

Change.
