In Good Company

Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
— MATTHEW 5:11, 12 (NIV)

If you’re doing a good thing, know that you can expect people to insult you and persecute you. The devil doesn’t want you to succeed or be successful. Satan doesn’t want GOD to get glory from your work. Therefore, he will possess people to do his dirty work. And it won’t be strangers. You wouldn’t care too much what a stranger thought of you. No. It will be people closest to you that insult you, discourage you and persecute you, but it’s your job to forgive them, for they know not what they do.

In today’s scripture, Jesus wants to prepare you for when this happens to you so that you don’t become angry with your family, friends, co-workers or people in your church and community. This fight is one against spirit, not flesh. You have to recognize this so not to become distracted and continue doing the work Christ has called you to do. GOD said you are blessed when people insult you and say all kinds of evil against you because of Him. Do not allow your spirit to become angered, but instead rejoice and be glad because great is your reward in heaven. You’re in good company because the same way you’re getting hell for doing the right thing, is the same way the prophets were persecuted before you. So, if people are giving you grief for doing good works, you must be doing something right!

Heavenly Father, I am blessed when people insult me, persecute me and falsely say all kinds of evil against me because of You. I will rejoice and be glad, because great is my reward in heaven, for I am in good company with Your prophets. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
