October is Pastor Appreciation Month

Then I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will lead you with knowledge and understanding.
— JEREMIAH 3:15 (NIV)

October is Pastor Appreciation Month! Preaching is hard work. It can take a lot of time to develop a message from GOD to deliver to His people every Sunday morning – and sometimes during the week. But when I think about the shepherd GOD gave us that is after His heart, who leads us with knowledge and understanding, that goes way beyond a Sunday sermon.

October’s Appreciation Month is to show appreciation to the pastors that go above and beyond preaching on Sunday. Again, that too is important, and those preachers should definitely be shown appreciation. I personally want to take the time to appreciate the pastors who know the majority of their congregants by name and not number – no matter how large their assembly. Those pastors who build relationships and still wait around after the sermon to shake a few hands and give a few church hugs (you know, the one where you turn to the side and place your hand on the person’s shoulder). The pastors that pray over their members, the sick and shut in and teaches bible study every week. The pastor who takes watching over your soul seriously. The one that’s not afraid to do what’s not popular to get godly results instead of worldly results. The pastor that’s there to counsel you, direct you, and appreciates who you are and not just how much tithes you give per year. The pastors that still walk the halls of their church and streets of its community. I’ve never pastored before, but I’ve seen it done firsthand. It’s a lot of work, dedication and sacrifice. If you ask me, pastors deserve more than a month!

Show them some love
