Someone Else

Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
— LUKE 6:38 (NIV)

Welcome to 2018. For some people, seeing the beginning of a new year is a blessing in itself while other focus more on the idea of it being a chance at a fresh start. With either mindset, we begin to think about what we are going to do different this year to achieve better results in life than the previous year. We make new year’s resolutions to save more money, find love, eat healthier, travel more, or exercise among many other things, but what if this year we focused on improving the lives of others and allowed Christ to improve ours?

Instead of making resolutions this year that will only change your life, think of making resolutions that could help change the lives of others. When you give to others, God said He’ll give it back to you. That’s a way better guarantee than the gym membership you purchased in 2017 that you used twice. (Just kidding! Good luck with your fitness goals this year!) God wants to bless you with the things you strive to achieve in this new year and you can unlock your blessings through helping others. With the measure you use to give to others, it will be measured to you. Don’t make 2018 about you. Make it about someone else and let Jesus take care of the rest.

Be a blessing this year

Heavenly Father, You said if I give it will be given back to me, a good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, blessings would be poured into my lap. I make the choice today to be a blessing to someone else as You have been a blessing to me. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
