Take Care of Your Body

Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies.
— 1 CORINTHIANS 6:19 – 20 (NIV)

As some of you may know, my wife and I have been on a health kick. We’ve been exercising regularly and making conscious efforts to eat healthier. We recently watched What The Health on Netflix. The documentary provided detailed information concerning how people poison their bodies by what they eat and how a plant based diet will reverse several health conditions while promoting healthier living. After watching What The Health and viewing the statistics and testimonies, I’m making the choice to be more mindful of what goes into my body.

Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit and while there are many biblical ways to honor God with your body, how you care for it is one that shouldn’t be ignored. Take the time to take care of your body. Come up with a daily routine to perform some form of exercise. You don’t need twenty gym memberships or muscles bulging out of your neck. You can do chair exercises, free YouTube videos, or just fifteen minute stretch exercises. Also, watch what you’re eating. Fast food and large quantities of meats are not healthy. It was “acceptable” back in the day when this information was not readily available or accessible, but now that you know better, you have to do better. This weekend, watch What The Health on Netflix and tell me what you think.

Heavenly Father, my body is a temple for Your Holy Spirit. I will make a conscious effort to take better care of my body and honor You with it. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
