What's Ahead?

Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead.
— PHILIPPIANS 3:13 (NIV)

Yep! We’ve all messed up before. We’ve said some things we may not have. Done some things we ought not have. Thought some thoughts we had no business thinking. But as long as we hold on to our past and continue to condemn ourselves, we’ll never realize what God has planned ahead for us.

Forget what’s behind you and concentrate on what’s ahead. Yes! You did it. Can’t change it and can’t do anything about it now. All you can do is confess your sin to God, repent, and allow Him to forgive you and purify you, then press toward what is ahead. Look, you might as well get used to it. You’re a work in progress. You’re going to make more mistakes. God knew this and it’s why He sent His Son to die for you. Instead of beating yourself up about them, learn from them.  You’ll won’t be sinless, but you will sin less as you learn from these mistakes and grow closer in and with God. Let go of whatever (or whoever) is hold you back from seeing what Jesus has ahead for you.

Heavenly Father, I don’t have it altogether and need you to continue to perfect me in You. I will forget everything that is behind me and strain toward what is ahead. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
