Late Bloomer

When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to him and said, ‘I am God Almighty; walk before me faithfully and be blameless. Then I will make my covenant between me and you and will greatly increase your numbers.’
— GENESIS 17:1 -2 (NIV)

We know God’s time is not our time. We live in an “I want it now!” world where oil changes take 10 minutes and gourmet meals can be microwaved in 5 minutes. Even though time and technology have changed us and the way we live, God has not changed. Not only has God not changed, but the promises He’s made us have not either. (I think I just heard you say, “Thank You, Jesus!”)

Whatever God has promised you, it’s coming. It may not come today or tomorrow, but God’s word does not come back void. Look at Abram in today’s scripture. God made a promise to him, but waited until he was ninety-nine to appear to him. Now, that may seem like a long ways away for some, but just remember, all those years that passed, God kept Abram. And while He was keeping Abram, He was blessing Abram and preparing to increase him… at the right time. Be encouraged today that God has not forgotten about you. He’s waiting for the perfect time to increase you as He’s promised. And we both know God is never late. He’s always right on time!

Wait on the Lord

Heavenly Father, thank You for thinking about me and keeping your covenant with me. Increase me, God Almighty. Bless me and keep me as I walk faithfully and blamelessly before You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
