“Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke Him and said to Him, ‘Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?’ He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, ‘Quiet! Be still!’ Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. He said to His disciples, ‘Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?’”
Sometimes, we forget that Christ’s spirit is within us. When crisis arrives in life, we try this, call that person, listen to this podcast, read that self-help book, and forget we have a God inside us that can solve any problem. No one can say exactly why God allows us to experience hardships in life. Maybe God allows your boat to go through storms because He knows your enemies can’t swim and on the other side of your storm is a new you that your enemy can’t touch.
Instead of waiting for your storm to overtake you, awake the Christ in you to overcome it. Have faith that Jesus will deliver you. Be obedient to His word even when it’s hard or doesn’t seem like it’s going to help. It may not make sense to you at first but, you’ll be amazed at what God can do in your life and situation when you have faith and believe He can do it. He can quiet the storm in your life – awake Him. He can tell life’s violent winds to be still – have faith. You don’t have to be afraid in life. Awake the Christ in you and witness your greatness.
