Under Attack

Deliver me from my enemies, O God; be my fortress against those who are attacking me.
— PSALM 59:1 (NIV)

As a child, I played a game called “Pick ‘em Up, Mess ‘em Up.” It’s when you’d toss a football high above a crowd of participants and whoever caught the ball would inherit the task of running for the designated touchdown. There were no teams. No timeouts. If you possessed the ball, you had to run before you were tackled. The only safety you had from being tackled was to score a touchdown.

If you ever wondered why your life seemed to be under attack, it’s because you’ve caught the ball. Not a football, but you’ve caught the purpose God has given you and your enemies are out to stop you from scoring and completing God’s mission. God has built a fortress of protection all around you from those who want to attack you and will deliver you from your enemies.  And though it may get hard at times, keep your eyes trained on scoring your touchdown and pay no attention to your adversaries chasing you. You may feel you’re out of timeouts to call or that you’re all alone without a team, but when God is for you, no one can be against you!

You’ve already won

Heavenly Father, thank You for delivering me from my enemies and being my fortress against those who are trying to attack me. My life is not under attack, but under Your protection. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
— This is my prayer
