Just Say No

For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age…
— TITUS 2:11 - 12 (NIV)

In the late 80’s, First Lady Nancy Raegan led a campaign during the United State’s War on Drugs. The campaign slogan she adopted was a clear response to anyone that was offered drugs. The phrase became popular when Nancy Raegan was asked by an elementary school student what should she say if someone offered her drugs. The former First Lady told the child to “Just Say No.”

When you received salvation, you received the gift of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit will guide your mind and heart in Christ Jesus. Therefore, just as Christ was able to resist temptation, you too are able to just say no. Say no to the tricks of Satan that only lead to death. Say no to anything ungodly or anything that comes against the knowledge of God. It doesn’t matter what’s going on in the world around you or who others choose to follow. You have the ability inside you to live self-controlled, upright, and godly in this present age.
