Every Part

If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.
— 1 CORINTHIANS 12:26 (NIV)

Ever injure a part of your body and notice how it affects your entire body? If you stub a toe on your left foot, your body almost automatically shifts all its weight to the right leg to compensate for the pain. You may limp for a while, but it reduces the amount of pain or damage you could possible do by ignoring it and just hoping it goes away. Without taking care of the small injured toe, it could become infected and spread, or do long time damage to your hip for carrying the extra weight, or worse.

Likewise, when someone is suffering in the body of Christ we cannot ignore it. We have to encourage that person and get them back on track, be it physically, mentally, or spiritually. Spiritual infection is something the body can experience if we ignore someone that is going through a rough patch in life. But when the rest of the body compensates for that one member and supports it, the healing process can take place faster. Today, take the time to identify and support someone in need. You’ll find your blessing is in helping someone else.

United we stand. Divided we fall.
