Woke

So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober.
— 1 Thessalonians 5:6 (NIV)

If you’ve read any articles lately or listened to any media broadcast concerning social injustice, you may have rediscovered the word woke. The word is used to relate to a group of people who are aware and have knowledge of what’s going on in the community as it relates to racism and social injustice. Being woke means you are privy to the truth and refuse to accept the status quo the world offers. As Christians we too have to stay woke. We have the true message of Jesus Christ to spread throughout our community. The answer to the racism and social injustice that plague our neighborhoods and government is the love of Jesus. As a woke believer, you have the ability and responsibility to make sure everyone around you is woke. Be the catalyst. Spark the dialogue. The answer has always been in you.

Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me the truth in Jesus Christ. I will not be like others who are asleep, but be awake and sober in You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
