Get Your Mind Right

We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
— 2 CORINTHIANS 10:5 (NIV)

The human brain is composed of about 100 billion nerve cells, interconnected by trillions of connections. On average, each connection transmits about one signal per second and gives us the ability to generate thoughts, according to engineers at MIT. That’s a lot of “thought power” to keep under control, which is why it’s important to think about what we’re thinking about.

Each action we make in life first starts with a thought. If you want to be on time to work or school, you think about everything you have to do in order to make it on time, then you move into action. While there, you may think about what you’re going to eat later. You picture the meal, then about what it takes to prepare, and when you get home, you make it. Living for Christ is the same way. When your mind starts thinking thoughts against the knowledge of God, you have to demolish them and remember the things pleasing to Him.  Get your mind right and those 100 billion of nerve cells together by thinking about what you’re thinking about.

Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me the ability to demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against Your knowledge. I will take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
