It All Falls Down

But now I urge you to keep up your courage, because not one of you will be lost; only the ship will be destroyed.
— ACTS 27:22 (NIV)

It can be easy to have courage while things are going well. You may have been blessed with a good job. Your significant other may be what fairytales are written about. Maybe you can’t remember the last time you’ve been sick or even had a headache. Your bills are caught up and you just filled your fridge with groceries. When things are going right, it can seem like you’re on top of the world.

While blessings are pleasant, God’s grace and mercy extends past the physical. Even if you’re currently looking for a job, what you thought was a fairytale has become a nightmare, six prescriptions are waiting at Walgreens with your name on them, or the only thing fresh in your fridge is Arm and Hammer, keep up your courage. Jesus promised you would not be lost while it seems like everything is falling down around you.  You may be facing a storm in life today. Your ship may be destroyed. But you can thank God you survived with your life. Tomorrow is a new day with renewed mercies. Rely on God’s comfort and the love of Christ to pull you through when it all falls down.

Heavenly Father, I will keep up my courage, because You said in Your word though my ship may be destroyed, I will not be lost. Thank You for Your grace and mercy. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
